The Soaring Eagle

Only your body is limited. Your spirit can 'mount up on wings like eagles'

Lord of My Doing

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

(Colossians 3:17)

To say that Jesus is Lord is to acknowledge and commit ourselves to a lifetime of ministry. There is no exception to this commitment. Jesus made it quite clear in the Great Commission and when He prayed to the Father and also later said,

  • “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” (John 17:18)
  • “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (John 20:21)

We are all called into ministry, equipped for ministry and empowered for ministry. That does not mean that we are all called into the same type of ministry. There are many different vocations –teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, engineers, bus drivers, sales people, scientists, plumbers, vets and street cleaners to name just a few. What we are all called to do is to express our Christianity in the way that we attend to and carry out our jobs. We should all to seek to do so to the highest possible standard. In addition, and as we engage with people during the course of our work and daily lives, we should seek to express the love and welcome of the Lord in our attitudes and relationships.

As we do everything in the name of Jesus and to His glory – which really means trying to do it as we believe He would – we allow our lives to proclaim the truth of our love and faith in Him. They also become an expression of our gratefulness to Him for all that He has done, and is doing, for us.

Make all that you do and say today a love offering to the Lord.

Lord Jesus please help me to live and work to Your glory, and to always seek to do so to the best of the ability that You have granted me. Amen.
