“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.”

(Galatians 6:18)

Reflection:
Paul ends his letter to the Galatians where he began it – focussing on the grace of God. He has stressed that, for the Christian, life can only be lived through the grace of God. This he has highlighted in three major areas.

Firstly authority. This comes from the Lord Himself and through the apostles whom He personally appointed and authorised to teach in His name. He promised that the Holy Spirit would help them to remember what He had taught them and would go on to lead them into all truth. He intended those who followed to recognise and submit to this authority as being from Him. The teachings of Jesus and His apostles as recorded in Scripture are to be taken seriously.

Secondly salvation. Jesus came not only to speak and to reveal but to save and to redeem. His great salvation of humankind was achieved on and through the cross. There He took upon Himself our sin and the curse that came with it. We enter into this salvation only through belief and faith in Him. When we do so all the blessings of the gospel – being made right with God, adoption as His sons and daughters and the indwelling gift of God the Holy Spirit – become ours individually and collectively.

Thirdly Holiness. The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer. He works to fill us with the love of God and to transform us into Christ-likeness – to form Christ in us. He is the one who produces in our lives the gifts and fruit that reveal Christ and bless those around us.

“My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.” (Galatians 4:19)
• “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

Response:
Soak in the Word, Believe in Christ, Co-operate with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus thank You for giving us so much. Help me please to seek and be filled with Your Light, Life and Love. Amen.
