Safe at last

“In him we have redemption
… the forgiveness of sins”

(Ephesians 1:7)

There is no salvation other than in and through Jesus Christ. Like slaves we too were in bondage, held captive by sin and guilt from which we could not escape.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)

There was no price that we could pay to gain our freedom and no sacrifice that we could offer that would result in our forgiveness. What we could not do for ourselves Jesus Christ has done for us. He has paid the price and rescued us from the just judgement of God upon our sins.

Jesus Christ is both the Saviour of the world and it’s Judge. Our lives are in His hands. For those who have entered, or will enter, into the new life that He has offered there is ‘no condemnation.’

“there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1)

We are greatly blessed in that the God of absolute holiness is also the God of unimaginable love. Where the law could only condemn, love had a solution – a solution that not only sets us free but adopts us as the sons and daughters of God Himself. In accepting and entering into His solution we move from fear and doubt to assurance and peace.

Am I secure in God’s love or nervous about the judgement?

Thank You Father for the door into Your presence which has been opened for me in Jesus Christ. Help me to enter more deeply into Your great and eternal love. Amen.
