“no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.”
(1 Corinthians 12:3)

Reflection:
There a two great revelations brought about in our lives by the Holy Spirit. One is that “Jesus is Lord” and the other “Abba, Father.”

no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3)
• “Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:6)

The revelation of Jesus as Lord is ongoing. As we live in relationship with Him, and soak ourselves in the Word that is Scripture, we begin to increasingly appreciate the height and depth of this statement together with its challenges and heart-lifting potential. We discover more and more of His reality, commitment and love as well as how ever-present and trust-worthy He is.

The revelation of “Abba, Father” takes us into the glorious mystery and reality of our intimacy with God as our heavenly and eternal Father – He who can be known, trusted and enjoyed right now. This too is ongoing as we grow in the appreciation of who and what He is and what we mean to Him.

The greater our personal awareness and appreciation of these two great statements the more they will affect our understanding of our identity as the sons and daughters of God. It is the Holy Spirit who keeps taking us deeper and higher as we allow Him and respond to Him.

Response:
Seek to go beyond the words and explore the deeper meanings. Try writing/journaling your understanding.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit please open these statements to me, and open me to them, that I might receive and know more of the truth about my Father and Saviour and my relationship with them. Amen.
