“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land”
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
I came across the following prayer in a book called “Lynda” which records the wonderful way in which God worked in her life. It is referred to as the Ellel Ministries Lordship Prayer. What appealed to me about it is the way in which it can be used as a regular, even daily, prayer. That is not to say that we need to ask Jesus Christ to be our Saviour and Lord every day. That asking and receiving is really a once-off event. We ask Him, receive Him and begin to live a new life with Him based on faith.
However we do well to remind ourselves of this commitment and to own it as part of our ongoing journey. The contents of this prayer bring to mind the specifics and extent of His Lordship in and over our lives and give us the opportunity of releasing these areas to Him every time we say the prayer. I have been using it both morning and evening and have found it to be extremely positive and helpful. It can be an ongoing aid to our consecrating our lives to Him in deeper ways as our journey continues.
I acknowledge my need of You
And accept You as my Saviour.
I invite you now to be Lord of my life,
Lord of my spirit and my relationship with You,
Lord of my body and my behaviour,
Lord of my mind and my thinking,
Lord of my emotions and my reactions,
Lord of my will and my decisions,
Lord of my sexuality,
Lord of my time, my family, my possessions
and all of my relationships with others.
Thank You that Your blood was shed that
I might be free.
Try it now – and write it down in a convenient place – diary, bible or mobile.
Lord I come to You as I am – please make me who I am in You. Amen.
