In Christ

“I am the resurrection and the life”
(John 11:25-26)

As we look back over the last days we may realise that in Jesus Christ we have received

  • A God who has come to and for us
  • A God who has come to give us new life
  • A God on whom we can feed for guidance, forgiveness, support, strength and spiritual nourishment whenever we want to
  • A God who has become the true light and focus in our lives
  • A God who gives us free access into His presence at all times
  • A God who has overcome sin, death and the grave

This same Lord and God is at one and the same time our Resurrection and our guarantee of that Resurrection. He has overcome the power and grasp of death in His own Resurrection. As we become united to Him though grace and by faith His Resurrection becomes our own. So as Christians we have in a real sense already entered into our Resurrection and are secure already in the presence of God the Father.

“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no-one can boast” (Ephesians 2:6-9)

Jesus links Resurrection and Life together because they cannot be separated. We cannot have the one without the other. And both of them find their reality and fulfilment in Him. Without His Resurrection there would be no new life for us. As we become united with Him in His death and resurrection our own new life dawns in a never-ending sunrise.

It can only mean that we are deeply loved.

Contemplate and absorb these great truths – gifts from a God of great and unending love

Holy Spirit please open my eyes, my heart and my spirit to the great truth of the love and provision of God. Help me to enter more deeply into it through grace and by faith. Amen.
